AMBER Alert issued for 2 Van Buren County children

An East Tennessee AMBER Alert was issued early this morning for two white females: three year old Summer Knasel, three feet tall, 32 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing a Dora nightgown and four year old Lovell Knasel, three feet four inches, 30 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing a princess nightgown.

Legislative notebook: End to veteran preference in state hiring criticized

NASHVILLE — Both Republican and Democratic legislators protested Tuesday a proposal by Gov. Bill Haslam that would eliminate the preference now given to military veterans in state government hiring.
