I am very excited about this new journey God is leading me on and would love to share a little bit with you so you have some background information. I graduated high school in 2008 and July of 2008 I moved to Nashville to go to cosmetology school. I started attending Paul Mitchell school in August. I graduated in July of 2009. I worked for a local salon in Maryville for 2.5 years. I then had the opportunity to open my own salon so I quit there and temporarily worked at the Pure Nail Bar until the remodeling on my salon was finished. The salon actually opened for business today, it is called Studio C! We are hoping to set our salon apart by having bible studies for employees hosted by my youth pastor Cesar Correa. Employees will be doing bible study, and hoping to open it to clients as well. Go see Studio C and Casey for a great hair day, you might leave an even better person.

Do you ever wonder if keeping your business alive during the tough economic times is merely a thought, or is it becoming a reality? It is not hard to see all the abandoned buildings, torn-down properties, and for sale signs all over Knoxville and East Tennessee. Many Knoxville business owners are facing the surreal and unfortunate possibilities, that they may not be able to sustain their dreams. Like many of us who own a business or “have the dream” of owning a business, envision riding off into the sunset with early retirement, and prosperity beyond our wildest dreams. So what makes some business’ more successful, while some business owners are upside down in a tailspin?

First, timing is crucial and often cliched, yet is very true. Have we all not regretted a buying or investment decision, that later turned out to be priceless in return? You might say “well then, who can possibly predict timing, isn’t that just luck”? Not necessarily. Keeping your eyes and ears open and one being one-step ahead in your planning has a lot to do with timing. Position yourself for good business opportunities even when you may think there is no way that you can invest or spend, when the pipeline of cash flow is in the red. Sometimes the smallest opportunities can be the most rewarding. Think of Google and YouTube, for example, and all of the internet ventures who are now some of the wealthiest proprietaries in existence. A $12 domain purchase, coupled with a little time and effort into building a good website, might just turn out to be the million dollar baby you always dreamed of. Take the coupon industry as another example. Who ever thought that successful business men and women would be using coupons to save on a buy-one, get-one free meal deal at a local eatery. Or the endless amount of folks who stockpile Sunday coupons to save $10-20 bucks at the grocery store!

Timing is everything in life. From the spouse we choose, to the business endeavors we embark upon. Finely tuning your antennas into hearing what others are saying, and sharing on social media pages such as facebook and twitter are an invaluable resource. There are a lot of very successful people building fortunes that share a wealth of knowledge. There are of course scams like anything in life, where greedy people take advantage of others, so just always practice care. Lastly, never close your mind to believing, and thinking positively. Taking claim to your piece of the success-pie and keeping your business alive, sometimes simply boils down to having faith, working hard, and talking yourself into success through positive affirmations. Knoxville depends on our small business community, so keep plugging away at reaching your full potential, by never closing your mind to the bright future that just may be right in front of you.

Have you ever gotten to a point in life where you were just overwhelmed, perhaps by a divorce, loss of a family member, job insecurities, or even legal problems? Chances are if you have gotten so stressed you thought you just couldn’t get through another day, means you have been to the E.R., cried yourself to sleep, or just felt anxious throughout your day–wondering how you would ever cope. Relax… you say “but I can’t, you just don’t understand what I am going through”. Yes my friend, yes I do. I actually understand it all too well. You see, I’ve been through a gut-wrenching divorce, had major surgery at age 25, had a traumatic car accident, been in legal troubles that I feared imprisonment, and lost everything that I owned at one point in my life–my home, my car, and my self-respect. But you see, the miracle of it all, is that true purpose, inner strength, and a new mindset free from worry comes about through process. I must tell clearly say this upfront, that you must come to believe in God almighty to join this support group. This is a Christian-based program, while we will not exclude you if you are on the fence at first, our goal is to bring you into a relationship with Jesus Christ, while giving you the tools to set you free from anxiety, panic, and worry. We are awaiting a new name to be given this new foundation, but are eager to change lives, renew hope, build relationships of support and encouragement, and make a difference in peoples lives for all the better. You can be free from obsessive worry, and live life to it’s fullest again. When we change the way that we think, we will change our behaviors and ultimately our destiny. I know that God allowed me to go through the many, many years of struggles, so that I would come out with a new appreciation for life and all the small things that I took for granted.
I hear so many say that it’s not a good time to sell during this financial market. Nothing has really changed. If you sell a house right now, it’s true that you will get less for your house than you would have in 2006. But when your house sells, what kind of price will you pay when you buy? That’s right! You’ll get a lot more house than in 2006 for less money. So when you think about it, the only thing that’s changed are the values. But—you SELL for LESS and BUY for Less. It’s all relative.

I remember selling homes at credit card interest rates in the early 80′s. The highest I’ve ever closed was at 21 percent interest. But take a look at the rates now—under 4%. In fact, I closed one last month at a 2.3 percent interest. That’s unbelievable. So when you think about delaying a purchase, think about the interest rates. The rates are at all-time lows right now. As the economy gets better, the rates will rise.

I’ve never enjoyed my work any more than I do now because there are so many great deals out there. I’ve helped people buy and sell homes for over 35 years and that joy and enthusiasm is with me today as much as it was when I started. The difference is that I now have a staff that is known as a well oiled machine” in place to help buyers and sellers. I used to try to do it all myself from putting the sign in the yard to the photos, feedback, listings, sales, home inspections, staging, etc. You get the picture? But I wanted to give quality service in every phase of the process. Coupled with the emergence of the internet marketing and social media, I realized that people deserve more than I could give as ONE person. Hence the J-Star Team was born. My team believes in professional quality service that makes our customers want to be our friends and loyal customers for a lifetime.

Whether buying or selling, we want you to get the best price with as little inconvenience to you as necessary. If you have any real estate questions or concerns, I am always ready to “chat” without any obligation. You can reach me 7 days a week at 865-693-3232, Realty Executives Associates, 10255 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922.

Happy Holidays!
I know we all have our aches and pains, but spiritually speaking, you knew something was about to happen as you prayed for guidance? Well, the truth to this story is; I had this very thing happen to me today. I had been waking-up with arthritic bouts, aches, stiffness, and just wanted to sleep more, quite honestly. I haven’t had a good nights sleep in ages, from the TMJ that I suffer from, to the low-back pain that sometimes is hard-to-bear! But today, a prayer was answered I believe. I met a man with wisdom and understanding, who has the God-given insight to heal through non-traditional methods. Dr. Murray McKinnon with McKinnon Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Halls, has a deep understanding for what is going on with our bodies. I met with Dr. McKinnon and felt at ease, as he showed me my x-rays, and my degenerative spine. He instantly gave me hope that even though my body is riddled with trauma from accidents, and falls, Dr. McKinnon said that I could feel well again. Not only did I believe his words, we talked of our faith, and I could tell this was a man that I could trust. After receiving my first acupuncture treatment, I came home and slept like a baby. Today, I went back to see Dr. McKinnon, and the same level of care was given. My neck was adjusted, my TMJ was soothed, and I left his office feeling like it truly is possible to feel well again. I do not give out endorsements that are not true. Alternative medicine heals many of our illnesses, especially under the care of someone with the knowledge Dr. McKinnon has. If you have anxiety, depression, muscle aches and pains, joint problems or anything that has you down–go see Dr. McKinnon. Janie, his office manager is amazingly sweet and welcomes you in like family. Their office information is listed below, and I will be doing periodic reports and updates for Dr. McKinnon. If my testimony can help one person feel better, or take the steps to getting treatment, I will continue to write everyday about the wonderful world of Acupuncture and Chiropractic.

Daily updates:

November 16th, 2011–Another good adjustment and acupuncture session today. Feeling my energy flow and less pain. Go see Dr. McKinnon. His subtle and gentle approach brings healing–this is my testimonial.

Dr.McKinnon will be offering a free class on December 13th (Tuesday) at 6:00 p.m. at his Knoxville office. Dr. McKinnon will be teaching the basics of acupuncture and what it is, and who how to locate 18-20 points–while discussing briefly what each point covers. There will be a $5 charge for a paper copy of the syllabus, or no charge if you prefer to have the syllabus emailed, which will offer you a brief description of the class. We look forward to seeing you there!

Had another acupuncture and acupressure session with Dr. McKinnon today in his Knoxville office. Went in feeling the effects of minor gout in my right foot, and felt relief after leaving. Still sore, but no doubt the science works, coupled with faith. If you are in pain, give acupuncture a try, it well may relieve many of your symptoms.
